The annual student symposium (“Helsinki-Day”) is a symposium organized by PhD-students of the Department of Biology and is meant for biology students across all levels at the University of Graz. PhD students can present their research in form of a short presentation. Master-students have the opportunity to present their research in a poster presentation format. Bachelor students are encouraged to attend and actively participate in discussions and can collect talks for the “Biological Colloquium”. As a keynote speaker, we have invited Petr Keil (Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague) and he will give a keynote lecture.
It is the aim of this symposium to present the current research that is conducted at the Department of Biology, while giving PhD and Master students an opportunity to practice their presentation skills for international events. At the same time, this event is a great possibility for students in their earlier stages (Bachelor and first year Master students) to find possible project for their theses.
For all participants (PI, post-docs, PhD-, Master and Bachelor students) this event will provide a stage for networking, scientific discussions and potential future collaborations. Besides this, a come together after the talks will take place for further discussion and networking in a relaxed environment.
