Cytokinin is a plant hormone involved in plant growth and developmental processes with an increasing roles in abiotic stress responses. Cytokinin Response Factors or CRFs are a group of transcription factors identified with connections to both cytokinin and abiotic stress. We have examined the expanding role that CRFs have beyond cy-tokinin in different abiotic stress responses, including oxidative, cold, and salt stress response. This has been done by examining different physiological parameters, tran-scriptome profiling, and measurements of cytokinin levels after changes in stress re-sponse. This work has revealed that specific stress responses of CRFs appears to mir-ror phylogenetic groupings of these proteins into evolutionary distinct clades that are conserved throughout Angiosperms.
