3.4.2019: Dr. Stamatis ZOGARIS (Greece): Ichthyological and biogeographical perspectives for river conservation in Greece, HS 02.11, Institut für Biologie, Bereich Zoologie, Universitätsplatz 2, 13.15 Uhr
Greece is an interesting country for inland waters conservation. There are problems and opportunities. There is also much less interest in inland waters as opposed to the marine environment. This talk gives some background information and some ideas to explore conservation using knowledge gained from freshwater biogeographic patterns and the ichthyofauna (which includes 47 endemic species).
Stamatis Zogaris has been involved in nature conservation work in Greece since the mid 1980s; he is an academic researcher at the country's major governmental research facility, the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research
