The annual student symposium (“Helsinki Day”) is organized by PhD students of the Department of Biology and is open to biology students at all levels at the University of Graz. PhD students present their research in short talks, while Master’s students contribute poster presentations. Bachelor’s students are encouraged to attend, participate in discussions, and collect talks for the “Biological Colloquium”.
The symposium aims to showcase current research at the Department of Biology and to provide PhD and Master’s students with an opportunity to practice their presentation skills. It also offers early-stage students insight into potential thesis projects.
For all participants - PIs, postdocs, and students - it provides a platform for networking, scientific exchange, and future collaborations. The event concludes with an informal get-together to encourage further discussion in a relaxed setting.
